We have eBooks and Audiobooks available for checkout online. This can be done with four different apps:

SORA - This app is available for our brick-and-mortar Oneida County School students. This app has so many great features for our students, including Dixlesia screens for easier reading.

IDEA - A book collection at the State Library for Juvenile and Young Adult Reading. This library can be connected to your OverDrive, Libby, and SORA accounts.

Destiny Discover - Oneida County Library Collection offers a limited selection of eBooks and Audiobooks for online checkout. You can access these through the online card catalog or the "Destiny App" on Android or IOS (Apple). Sign in with your username and password, and a list of eBooks we have in our catalog will appear. You can then check out any of the emails in our local catalog.
We hope you will take advantage of the free online eBooks and eAudiobooks we provide through the Overdrive Service (Libby App), SORA (for students only), IDEA, and our local collection. Below are the instructions to get online and start reading. The following instructions outline the process for downloading the Libby app on your device. You can also access your ebooks and audiobooks from the computer at https://www.overdrive.com/apps/libby. Libby allows you to read books through your Kindle as well. A pamphlet is available at the library for step-by-step instructions, both in the library and on the Oneida County Library website. If you need more personalized help, feel free to drop into the library, and one of our staff members will be happy to assist you in signing up and getting started with this service.

Magazines!
There are also over 400 magazines and periodical subscriptions on the Overdrive eCollection. These can be checked out on the Libby app at any time. You can check out as many as you want when you want.

Download the Libby App from the Play Store if you have an Android Device or the App Store if you have an Apple Device.

Check Yes if you have a library card. If not, contact your library.

Choose "Search for a Library" or type in Oneida County Library.

Select Oneida County District (Idaho Digital Consortium)

Click Oneida County District

Enter your Library Card Number with a capital "P" in front of it. Example: P111

Enter your Last name with a capital first letter. Example: Doe

Click Next, and you should have full access to the eBook Library
Searching for a Book on the Libby App

There are different ways to search for a book.

Use the magnifying glass search tool to search for a specific title, author, or keyword.

Select "Explore" to browse different collections and genres.

Libby has eBooks, eAudiobooks, and Magazines.

eAudiobooks have a headphones icon on the image of the book cover. You can refine search results by selecting "+ preferences" and refining your search settings

Borrowing a book - To borrow an item, click on the book cover image. You will be prompted to "Borrow the item" if it is currently available or "Place a hold" if it is currently checked out by another user.

If you click "Borrow," the next screen will prompt you to click "Borrow" a second time. After you click Borrow, you will be given the option to either "Keep browsing" or "Go to the shelf to read or listen to your book.

If you click "Place a Hold," you will be asked to enter your email address. You will be notified via email when your hold is available for checkout. Your holds and checkouts can be viewed by clicking "Shelf."

Open Book - Select Kindle if you have an Amazon account. This will take you to your Amazon Account. You will need your Amazon password. Select Deliver the book to the Kindle App of your choice. If you select Libby, you will go to the Libby bookshelf.

Reading or listening to a book - Your "Shelf" is where everything you have checked out can be found. Tap on a book cover to start reading or listening. The Libby app will save your progress.

Late Fees - Don't worry about late fees. Books in Libby return themselves once the loan period ends. You will have the option to renew your item, unless there is a hold on it. You can return a book early by selecting Manage Loan on your shelf.

Getting Started with the Sora App
​
The SORA App, by Overdrive, is sponsored by the Oneida County Library for use in the Oneida County School District's brick-and-mortar schools only, for all students in grades K-12. Students can access eBooks and eAudiobooks available from our library's OverDrive collection, as well as the IDEA Collection from the Idaho State Commission for Libraries. Does a student not have a library card? They don't need one! Meet with your school librarians to learn more about the amazing app and its possibilities. If you are a member of IHLA, please use the Libby App instead of SORA.

With SORA, you can get free eBooks and eAudiobooks from the Oneida County Library eCollection.

Install the SORA App on your device or go to soraapp.com

In SORA, find your school or enter your school's setup code, then sign in. Note: If you need your sign-in information (ID, username, or password, see your teacher or Ms. Kent at the High School Library.

Browse the Explore tab and borrow a book. Your book will open, allowing you to start reading right away.

Close the book and go to the shelf to see all your items.

You can now select Open Book or Open Audiobook to read or listen to the book.

Select Options to renew or return the book, see your notes and highlights, and more.

Visit the library or see your teacher to obtain an instructional pamphlet on various features of SORA.
